Find out what sets the Genesis G80 apart from the Genesis G90

If you're looking for a sleek, luxurious car that is as pleasant to look at as it is to drive, you'll find plenty of options in the new Genesis sedan lineup. Genesis of Savannah is home to a wide range of exquisite new Genesis models like the Genesis G80 and Genesis G90. Which one is right for you? The G80 and G90 are both exceptional vehicles, but your specific needs might call for one over the other. If you're on the fence between these two luxury cars, we can help you dive in and see which one is right for your needs and lifestyle.

Model Size

The primary difference that you'll notice right away is size. The G80 is considered a midsize sedan, while the G90 is classified as a full-size sedan. Both are luxurious and easy to drive, but if your choices are weighted heavily depending on size, then this is an important detail to consider. The G90 is longer than the G80, and it has a longer wheelbase.

The greater length means that the G90 has more passenger volume than the G80. More interior space is a boon if you're looking for a vehicle that can accommodate extra passengers and give them the space they need. However, you might fight that the G80 is easier to maneuver, thanks to its slightly smaller frame.

Interior and Cargo Space

The G80 is a midsize car and the G90 is a full-size vehicle, so you can expect a difference in terms of space for people and cargo. Both rides seat five people, and front-row occupants can expect generous legroom-roughly 46 inches in either sedan, in fact. The rear seats are adult-friendly, although you'll find a bit more legroom in the G90. It has nearly 38 inches of rear legroom, while the G80 offers 35 inches. If you're planning on seating tall adults in the rear seats, the G90 may be a good bet-but the G80 can seat kids and average-sized adults with ease.

Both the G80 and the G90 offer generous space in their trunks. The G80 has 13.1 cubic feet to offer, while the trunk of the G90 has 15.7 cubic feet.

Both are roomy enough to hold luggage, groceries, and other items that you might need to bring with you during your various adventures.

Exterior Features and Technology

While Both models are head turning, the Genesis G80 boasts a thorough refresh for the 2021 model year, giving it an elegant new look that communicates athleticism and grace. The Genesis G90 is sophisticated and eye-catching, thanks to its sweeping lines and Genesis Crest Grille, but it hasn't been refreshed as recently.

The G80 and G90 come with a long list of standard and available features, but you'll get to see different ones, depending on the car you choose. Only the G80, for example, offers Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ for intuitive smartphone connectivity and easy access to your most essential apps.

The G90, meanwhile, comes standard with helpful features, such as wireless device charging, so you can keep your phone at full power without the hassle of cords.

Engine Options and Performance

Both of these vehicles are made to impress. You'll get a powerful vehicle from both. And, you'll find very similar powertrain options in both vehicles. The biggest pro on the G80 power wise is that it is more efficient than the G90 due to its smaller frame. The G90, however, has a larger gas tank that will allow you to stay on the road longer during road trips.

The Genesis G80 comes with two powertrain choices. The Genesis G80 2.5T comes with a turbocharged 4CYL engine that gets 300HP and 311 pound-feet of torque. The Genesis G80 3.5T has a twin-turbo V6 engine that gets an impressive 375HP and 391 pound-feet of torque. An 8-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive come standard on both, but all-wheel drive is always available. Reviewers and drivers were impressed with the first engine choice alone. It allows drivers to get up to speed quickly and maneuver easily. The second just gives you even more authority. Both engines give you a comfortable, quiet, and smooth ride on any surface.

The Genesis G90 also comes with two powertrain options. The first is a 3.3L twin-turbocharged V6 engine that gets 365HP and 376 pound-feet of torque. It moves with serious prowess. The other option is a 5.0L, V8 engine that gets 420HP and 383-pound-feet of torque. There isn't a huge difference between these two, but the naturally-aspirated V8 is the only offering of the kind in its class.

Both rides max out with equal power from the V8. They also come standard with sporty rear-wheel drive (RWD), but you can upgrade to all-wheel drive (AWD) for more traction on the road.

Safety Features

The Genesis G80 is well-known for its robust roster of safety and driver-assist features. The G90 is similarly well-equipped, and it offers cutting-edge features like forward-collision mitigation and cyclist detection to help you and those on the road around you stay safe. Both models are designed with your peace of mind at the top of the priority list, and it shows when you explore the plentiful safety and driver-assist features that come with each G80 and G90 model.
